The October 2016 edition of MAC senior, the newsletter for UNISON’s Scottish retired members, is out now. Issue 15 features highlights from UNISON’s 2016 National Retired Members’ Conference which was held in Southport on 4th/5th October.
A major debate, organised by the trades unions in the West Dunbartonshire area, will take place on Saturday 2 April, 12 – 3pm, Clydebank. The question under discussion will be whether to leave or stay in the European Union.
The debate will focus on what is in the best interest of the working class – In or Out?

The Branch has received the first in a series of briefings prepared by UNISON’s Pension Unit to increase awareness of what is going on and why changes in pensions are important for all UNISON members.
The attached briefing sets out the changes to the State Pension that will affect everyone who is reaching their State Pension Age on or after 6 April 2016. It was written by UNISON National Pensions Officer Alan Fox.
In it he says: “You may have heard that from 6 April 2016… your state pension will become £150 a week, as this is what the new state pension amount will be. Sadly you’re likely to be in for a shock!” The full Pension Briefing

Arrangements are being made to hold the 2015 Scottish Retired Members Conference at the STUC, 333 Woodlands Road, Glasgow G3 6NG on Wednesday 15 April 2015 with registration starting at 10.00am. The Conference will finish by 3.30pm.
