Winning with UNISON

UNISON exists for its members: to protect them and defend them and their interests; to win recompense when things go wrong and to make sure they’re treated fairly and equally. Three recent wins in just the past month show just what being in UNISON can mean for public service workers.

Sometimes it’s useful to remind ourselves of just what UNISON members,  activists, and services and staff can do. Read the full story on the UNISON website.

UNISON recruitment event 25 October on Paisley Campus

UWS branch of UNISON is holding a recruitment event today (Tuesday 25 October 2016) at Paisley Campus, with the offer of a free tea/coffee and cake.
If you know someone at UWS Paisley Campus who has been thinking of joining UNISON then please encourage them to come along and find out about the benefits of membership to one of the UK’s largest trade unions.
We will have a stand in the new student hub area from 8.30-11am and then in A Block from 11.30-2pm, so drop-by to say hello and bring a non-member colleague along for a chat.
If you are not a Paisley-based staff member and would like to help recruit members on your campus please email for advice and recruitment materials.
If you feel you’ve been treated unfairly, or are facing difficulties at work, then we’re here to help.
We will work to ensure your rights are protected and that you have a safe environment to work in.
In these uncertain times there’s never been a better time to join UNISON.
For as little as £1.30 a month our members get:
• advice, support and help at work
• a helpline that is open until midnight
• legal help for you at work and your family at home
• plus a wide range of exclusive member discounts.

Love UNISON: union members make the workplace great

As Union members across the UK take part in a week of action from 8 to 14 February, members describe why the union is important.

Alex Anthony, a library assistant, came from a job where the manager didn’t treat people very well, to a job where we staff are treated really well, and realised that it’s because of the union.
