Since 2008 your pay has failed to keep up with the cost of living. This year employers have offered 1.1% for the majority of staff*. UNISON has rejected the offer and is now balloting members for strike action.
In 2014/15 Universities could afford an average pay rise of 6.1% for vice chancellors. It’s clear that pay austerity for some staff is a choice being made by Universities. It’s time they invested more in their greatest asset – you.
This week UWS Branch of UNISON will be talking to members about the pay offer and handing out cup-cakes on Wednesday 31 August from 11am to 1pm. There will also be a presentation and discussion on the pay offer in L212 between 1pm and 2pm featuring Unison’s Area Organiser.
Look out for UNISON reps in the Ayr and Hamilton Campuses and come along to L Block entrance (next to the Library entrance) on Paisley Campus to pick up your free cup-cake. Do invite colleagues who are non-members to participate and encourage them to join UNISON.
UNISON believes the only way to get an improved pay offer from the employers is for members to take strike action so please vote ‘yes’ when you receive your ballot papers.
Vote now and make sure your voice is heard.
