HE Employers make final offer on Pay 2015-16

UNISON has received a “full and final” pay offer from higher education employers, which the union’s higher education service group executive will discuss on Monday 18 May.

The pay offer is as follows:

Pay rates for all staff covered by the HE national agreement would be increased from 1 August 2015 by 1%.

In addition, Point 1 – 8 of the pay spine would also be increased as detailed below. This would bring point 1 to the current rate of the Living Wage (£7.85) in those HEI’s that have a 35 hr working week, which equates to an uplift of 2.6%.

Pay Equality Claim – To conclude work started in 2014-15 and both parties to work together to undertake the following joint work.

  •  Gender pay – Joint review of the 2014 HE pay data that will include an expanded section on the gender pay gap, exploring gaps between job levels and information on occupation segregation.
  •  Hourly paid and casual staff – look at ways to improve collection of data and analysis of evidence of these staff groups.

Next steps

UNISON’s Higher Education Service Group Executive (HESGE) is due to meet today (18 May 2015) to discuss the consultation on the pay offer.
