Fun Day at New Lanark – Sunday 31 August 2014

All UNISON members are invited to New Lanark​ on Sunday 31 August for a fun day out at the famous world heritage site.

This is the 5th year South Lanarkshire Branch of UNISON have organised a big fun day out for members, their families and friends at New Lanark and they believe this will be the best yet.

New Lanark is a fantastic venue. It is set in beautiful countryside and has world class attractions including the Falls of Clyde, the historic mills and the award winning Visitor Centre where the story of the village, Robert Owen and the birth of the co-operative and socialist movements are told. And that is before the UNISON fun activities are added to the menu!

This year we have the usual children’s activities – face painting, balloon sculpture, bouncy castle, smoothie bike and treasure trail – musical entertainment provided by Alastair MacDonald and Sound Inspirations (featuring Pauline Bradley), family comedy act Improv Kids and a special event for all lovers of Madness, The Special AKA and ska music which will have you up and dancing.

There will be various stalls selling crafts, fancies and South African Fair Trade produce and all UNISON members will be entitled to a 25% discount on entry to the Visitor Centre.

Every UNISON member will get a goodie bag for the kids and a voucher for the cafe so you can relax with a cuppa. Finally all members are invite to the UNISON Reception for a sociable drink and chat with colleagues and friends. This year’s guest is Glen Williams who is the Chair of our Local Government Service Group Executive who are organising and leading the industrial action down south on pay.
